We started to put some of the important events from Ancient Greece in chronological order; we created a double page spread to show our information...
Can anyone explain what this acronym is and why we use it?
Please play this game to help memorise those important fraction, decimal and percentage facts (you should know the facts on level 1 really well!):
https://mathsframe.co.uk/en/resources/resource/120/match-fractions-decimals-and-percentages We have started to look more closely at the relationship between fractions, decimals and percentages and have played some good memory games to remember some of the key facts. e.g. 1/4 = 0.25 = 25% and 1/8 = 0.125 = 12.5%
Can you recall any? As there is no additional set homework this week - it would be a really good opportunity to dive deeper in to your CGP books if you haven't yet.
This would be great to start in bits now and continue over half term. You should feel confident trying .... Reading: The Reading material you can cover at your own discretion (we are doing a lot of successful practise in class with key texts at the moment and please let me know if you don't understand any aspects of it) SPaG: Sections 2 - 3 in the Punctuation book Section 2 from Spellings Section 2 from Grammar Maths: Pages 5 - 10 and all of section 2 from Number, ratio and algebra. All of Section 1 from the Arithmetic book. All of Section 1 from the Geometry, Measure and Statsitics book. We did a little experiment today, inspired by Darwin's findings about finches on the Galapagos islands.
Darwin noticed that the young finches with the 'perfect beaks' for the environment (to crack the shells of seeds to eat) would become nourished and others would cease to survive. We also looked at how different animals have adapted to their environments - a very science based afternoon in Year 6! |
