On Thursday was Millie's science project, she had been working on it for days with her friend Bell.
It was a miniature rocket and every time they had tested it, it had worked. It was Wednesday evening and when she went to bed she had a slight tickle down her spine that felt like butterflies in her tummy. The next morning Millie jumped out of bed and had her breakfast, cheerfull and ready for the day ahead her. At school everyone had their science projects in front of them - Millie and Bell were number 4 so they had to get ready for their turn. It was their go and Millie pressed the button for it to take off, when it just wouldn't take off... great their science project didn't work!

Amy was at the airport . She was going on a plane to Spain on her own - as she was 21 years old. After she put her luggage in the plane, she sat down and put her headphones on to listen to music.
An hour later, everyone was screaming . Babies crying; children were frightened . It seemed like they were having a plane crash . We landed safely on the ground. The pilot started the engine again . When it just wouldn't take off, Amy thought: 'Great we're stuck'... One day Evie had a frog, named Charlie, and she had entered him into a long jump competition for frogs. Evie was confident Charlie would win because they had been practising for many months.
Finally the day came to the competition - Evie was worried and excited at the same time. The frogs were all lined up...Beeeeeepppp... the horn went; everyone started cheering and the frogs took off, but Evie just stared - Charlie wouldn't go! And thats how Evie remembers it... when it just wouldn't take off! Jack, who was a skilled diver, was out on a fishing trip.
Their goal was to try catch a swordfish, or two. It was noon and they still hadn't seen one at all - would they find one? Out of the corner of his eye, Jack spotted the long sharp sword slithering through the water next to his bait. Jack was filled with delight when he saw it. However every time he tried to reel it in, it would just move away from the bait and Jack couldn't afford to lose this fish. When it wouldn't take off, Jack thought that this was his chance, but all of a sudden the swordfish darted off into the sunset and the sadness showed upon his face. Out at the launching station at D.C Washington, USA. Charlie was ready to get launched to the moon. He has been waiting a long time for this moment. A few hours later, Charlie was in the rocket. He was sweating everywhere as they started the countdown 5,4,3,2,1,0 - blast off!!
Charlie closed his eyes ready for impact when it just wouldn't take off... He opened his eyes he was scared stiff. Ground control were furious. Soon, it started with a shudder and started plummeting through the atmosphere - the rocket exploded and he died. |
